Malicious Wounding Charge Levied For Hitting Officer With Vehicle

ARLINGTON, VA — Arlington County Police arrested 23-year-old Taron Butler of Arlington who they say struck a police officer with his vehicle early Saturday morning.

Officers responded around 5 a.m. to the 800 block of N. Wakefield St. in the Bluemont neighborhood for the report of a vehicle playing loud music. When officers arrived, they found a Butler in a vehicle matching the description of the one reported to be playing loud music.

As an officer approached the vehicle on foot, Butler tried to speed off, but struck the officer with his vehicle, police say. Butler then struck a parked, unoccupied vehicle and then sped off. The officer did not report any injuries.

Officers searched the area for Butler and his vehicle. They then located and arrested him at his residence in the e 2000 block of N. Culpepper Street

ACPD charged Butler with malicious wounding on police, eluding police, and hit and run.
