Man, 18, Cited On Concealed Weapon Charge: Arlington Police
Arlington police arrested an 18-year-old man they say was carrying a concealed weapon and was in possession of marijuana.

ARLINGTON, VA — An 18-year-old Arlington man is facing a weapons charge after being arrested early Saturday as part of marijuana investigation in south Rossyln, according to authorities.
Officers responded around 1:30 a.m. to a residential building building in the 1600 block of 16th Street North to investigate a noise complaint.
"Upon arrival, officers encountered a group outside the building smoking marijuana in public," according to the incident report. "The suspect fled from officers and following a foot pursuit, he was taken into custody in the 1500 block of North Queen Street."

Officers found a concealed firearm in the possession of the suspect, whom they identified as Kidus Wegen, the report says. He was arrested and charged with unlawfully carrying a concealed handgun, obstruction of justice, and possession of marijuana by a person Less than 21 years of age.
The marijuana charge is a civil violation, so Wegen was released on a summons, according to court documents.

The remaining two charges are Class 1 misdemeanors. If convicted, Wegen faces a potential penalty of up to 12 months in jail and/or a fine up to $2,500, if convicted, under the Code of Virginia.
Wegen was scheduled to be arraigned at 2 p.m. on Wednesday in Arlington General District Court, according to court records.
