Man Dies In Arlington County Detention Center
A man died in the Arlington County Detention Center Thursday while he was awaiting a hearing on a probation violation.
ARLINGTON, VA — Darryl Becton, 46, died Thursday afternoon in the Arlington County Detention Center, according to a release from the Arlington County Police Department. Becton had been arrested Tuesday on a probation violation and was awaiting his court hearing.
After finding Becton unconscious in his cell at 4:17 p.m., Arlington County Sheriff's deputies and medical staff started resuscitation efforts until Arlington Fire and Rescue units arrived. Medic 102 pronounced him dead on the scene at 4:48 p.m.
ACPD notified Becton's family of his death on Thursday evening.

The Chief Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of Becton's death. ACPD will also conduct an investigation into the death, following standard department procedure.
