Maryland Man Jailed After 2nd Shoplifting Incident In Pentagon City

A Maryland man, who was released after shoplifting in Pentagon City, faced more serious charges after a second incident in the area.

ARLINGTON, VA — A Maryland man was released on a summons after shoplifting from a store in Pentagon City Thursday afternoon. An hour later, the same man was caught trying to leave another business across the street at the Pentagon City Mall with clothing and other items he hadn’t purchased.

In the second incident, though, the man scuffled with security at the store, striking two employees, according to the Arlington County Police Department. Store security detained the man until Arlington County Police showed up at the store.

The man wasn't allowed to go free with only a summons for petit larceny like he was an hour earlier. Instead, the man, Adrian Chavez Gonzalez, 26, of Cheltenham, Maryland, was arrested on charges of two counts of robbery, trespassing and shoplifting, police said. He was held on a secured bond in the Arlington County Detention Center.
