MD Man Charged Following Shooting On Columbia Pike
Arlington County Police charged a Maryland man in connection with an early morning shooting outside a Columbia Pike business.

ARLINGTON, VA — Arlington County Police arrested a Maryland man in connection with an early morning shooting that took place Sunday outside a Columbia Pike business, according to a police release.
Officers responded around 5:04 a.m., to the 3100 block of Columbia Pike, for the report of a shooting. They found an adult man suffering from a gunshot wound. The man was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Following a preliminary investigation, police determined security guards were clearing people from the parking lot of a business when a suspect produced a firearm and fired it toward the crowd. Two security guards, who were licensed by the state of Virginia to carry firearms, returned fire. After firing additional rounds, the suspect fled the scene in a vehicle.

ACPD broadcast a lookout for the vehicle. Responding officers found the vehicle and stopped it at the intersection of 9th Street S. at Walter Reed Drive. The suspect was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for a superficial wound. Once he was medically cleared, police arrested Yared Denbu, 33, of Dundalk, Maryland, and charged him with attempted malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and reckless handling of a firearm. Dundalk is being held in Washington, D.C., awaiting extradition to Virginia.
According to police, the shooting was an isolated incident between known parties. There is no known threat to the community at this time. This case remains an active criminal investigation.
