Metro Problems Force Arlington to Scramble Buses

WMATA is just getting started fixing its mess, and Arlington is adjusting its bus schedule to help county residents in the meantime.

Metro's year-long SafeTrack plan isn't just causing issues for the rail system itself -- it's forcing Arlington to adjust its ART bus schedule to help alleviate the problems spilling over into the county.

The city is announcing new "temporary service changes to accommodate SafeTrack" that will go into effect on Saturday, June 18, according to a statement.

ART Route 43 will be providing service seven days a week starting on that date, a change that was implemented to "provide a bus alternative for those traveling between Crystal City and points south and the Rosslyn and Courthouse Metro stations during WMATA's SafeTrack maintenance project."

The buses will operate at a 10-minute frequency during weekday rush hours, which run from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Otherwise, they'll operate at 20-minute frequency.
