Outage is not related to storm, according to Dominion Power.

Residents of the Io Piazza apartment building in Shirlington have been without power for more than 24 hours as of 11:45 p.m. Tuesday. The building is located at 2727 S. Quincy St.
Here’s the latest from Dominion Power:

· Work is ongoing to restore service (and was expected to be completed between 8 and 9 p.m. Tuesday; but as of 11:45 p.m., a Dominion outage map shows there is still an outage)
· Fixing the problem has been greatly delayed due to “customer-owned vault lids being extremely difficult to remove,” according to Dominion. “This allows access in and out of the vault for the crane to raise and lower the transformer into the ground.”

Power was restored to about 500 homes in Arlington that were without power Monday night due to a storm that hit the area.
Dominion says the Shirlington homes power outage was not related to the storm; it reportedly failed Monday night though, the same time that the storm hit.
A thunderstorm was the likely culprit Monday night behind other power outages to hundreds of homes in Arlington County. Nearly 800 homes were without power as of 9:30 p.m. Monday.
There were several clusters of homes without power Monday night in addition to those in Shirlington:
- In North Arlington, near I-66 and George Mason Drive, 94 homes are without power.
- Near Lorcom Lane in North Arlington there was a cluster as of 9:30 p.m., of more than 300 homes without power. Another cluster of 81 homes near that area is also without power.
In all 701 homes were without power in Fairfax County; by 3:45 a.m., that number was 16, according to the outage map. Most of those homes were in the Hybla Valley-Fort Hunt area near Richmond Highway.
A Tornado Watch was in effect for Arlington County and the DC metro region until 10 p.m. Monday.
