Northern Virginia Nonprofit Piano & More Celebrates World Piano Day Ahead of 10-Year Anniversary Concert

March is National Music Month, a time to recognize the impact music has on our lives, especially for children developing confidence, creativity, and focus. This year, the celebration is especially meaningful for one Northern Virginia nonprofit that is preparing to mark a major milestone.

Piano & More, a nonprofit providing in-home music lessons across Arlington, Falls Church, and McLean, is celebrating both National Music Month and World Piano Day on March 29, observed on the 88th day of the year in honor of the piano’s 88 keys.



For the past 10 years, Piano & More has worked with local families to make music education more accessible by bringing lessons directly into students’ homes. This approach removes the need for travel and allows students to learn in a familiar, comfortable environment, helping them stay consistent and engaged.

Beyond learning an instrument, students develop important life skills through music, including discipline, problem-solving, emotional expression, and confidence. Research continues to show that music education supports cognitive development and can positively impact memory, attention, and academic performance in children.

As Piano & More celebrates its 10-year anniversary this April, the organization is marking the occasion with a special Live Band Student Concert on April 19 from 5:30 to 7:30 PM at Busboys & Poets.

This private school event is designed specifically for Piano & More students and their families. It will feature student performers playing alongside a live band in a full concert setting, complete with stage lighting, a live audience, and a shared dinner experience.

With only 15 student performer spots and seating for 80 guests, the event is intentionally limited to create a meaningful and memorable experience. Each performer registration includes the student and three guest tickets, along with a three-course meal.

The concert represents more than just a performance. It is a milestone moment for students, many of whom will experience playing in a live band setting for the first time, building confidence and a deeper connection to music.

As National Music Month and World Piano Day highlight the value of music education, Piano & More’s upcoming anniversary serves as a reminder of the lasting role music can play in a child’s growth, both on and off the stage.
