Nova Fencing Club Sends 2 Fencers to the Junior Olympics

Two local epeeists compete in the Junior Olympics, which are the National Championships for fencers under 20.

Two Nova Fencing Club athletes, Jack Steuble and Hannah Dembosky, are among
those representing Virginia at the 2017 Junior Olympics Fencing competition in Kansas
City, Missouri from February 17th - 20th. Jack is competing in the Junior Men’s
Epee event and in the Cadet Men’s Epee event. Hannah competes in the
Cadet Women’s Epee event. This is the second year that both fencers,
coached by Greg Kaidanov, will compete in Junior Olympics Fencing events. Both
Jack and Hannah attend Washington-Lee High School.
The Junior Olympics is the National Fencing Championship for athletes under the age
of 20 who have gone through a rigorous qualification process to represent their
respective states. There are hundreds of competitors from around the country
competing in each event. USA Fencing is the recognized national governing body for
the sport of fencing in the United States and holds the Junior Olympics in a different
city each year.
