Pepper Spray Deployed During Strong-Arm Robbery In Pentagon City: ACPD

ARLINGTON, VA — Two juveniles are facing multiple charges, including attempted malicious wounding, for using pepper spray against an employee during a robbery at a Pentagon City business late Wednesday afternoon, according to Arlington County Police.

Officers responded around 5:09 p.m. for the report of a robbery by force in the 1200 block of South Joyce Street. A preliminary investigation determined that two juvenile males entered the business, took merchandise and left the store without paying, according to police.

When a store employee tried to stop them, the two suspects deployed pepper spray, missing the employee, who was unharmed, according to authorities. The duo ran off on foot. No injuries were reported.

After broadcasting a lookout, the officers located two juveniles who matched the description of the suspects in the 1200 block of South Hayes Street, according to police. They took the two into custody.

ACPD obtained petitions for the first suspect for shoplifting and conspiracy to commit a felony, as well as petitions for the second suspect for attempted malicious wounding and shoplifting, according to police.
