ARLINGTON, VA — When most people consider adopting an animal from a rescue or shelter, the usually think about getting a dog or a cat. But why not consider adopting a rabbit or hamster instead, or even a boy Guinea pig named Ned Flanders?

Through Sept. 30, the Animal Welfare League of Arlington is offering a 50 percent discount on adoption fees for all of its small animals.
