Police Investigate Suspicious Package Monday at Airport

MWAA says there were no flight delays or evacuations.

Police investigated and cleared a suspicious checked bag Monday afternoon at Reagan National Airport. All operations were normal during the check.

Police were responding to a report and investigating a suspicious package at Terminal B at Reagan National Monday afternoon, according to a spokeswoman for Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority.

There were no evacuations or flight delays, she said.

“Police are investigating a checked bag that requires follow-up checks by a detection team, which has arrived,” said Kimberly Gibbs, MWAA spokeswoman, just before 4:30 p.m.

“Our police closed off a small area of the ticketing level, but the airport continues to operate normally and the airline counters remain open,” she said.
