Raccoon Rescued from Drain at Wakefield High School in Arlington

It's the second time local authorities had to free a raccoon that got somewhere it shouldn't have in the Northern Virginia area.

ARLINGTON, VA — Raccoons have been getting stuck in the worst places lately: first a raccoon had to be rescued by Fairfax County police in Reston after getting into a bird feeder, and now animal control had to pull one of the mischievous critters from a drain at Wakefield High School in Arlington.

The Animal Welfare League of Arlington tweeted a thank you to animal control officers on Monday for rescuing a stuck raccoon, posting a picture of the miserable masked bandit caught in the act.

"Thank you to our Animal Control Officers for rescuing this stuck raccoon from a drain!" they wrote.

Last Thursday, Fairfax County Police posted a picture of a raccoon that was caught in a Reston resident's bird feeder.

Both raccoons appear to have escaped serious harm.
