Robbery, Carjacking In Arlington Lead To Arrests Of 3 Suspects: Police
A robbery followed by a carjacking in the Ballston area of Arlington early Sunday morning led police departments on a several-hour pursuit.
ARLINGTON, VA — A robbery followed by a carjacking in the Ballston area of Arlington early Sunday morning led police on a several-hour pursuit that ended with the arrests of a Maryland man and two juveniles in Washington, D.C., according to police.
The carjacking is the third in Arlington in the past week. Suspects in the other two carjackings have not been arrested.
Three suspects — one man and two juveniles — were taken into custody Sunday after the stolen vehicle crashed, ARLnow reported.

Warrants for conspiracy to commit carjacking, carjacking and robbery were obtained for Laysohn Jones, 21 of Suitland, Maryland, Arlington County Police said. Petitions for the two juvenile suspects are pending.
Around 1 a.m. Sunday, Arlington Police officers went to the 800 block of North Glebe Road in Arlington for a report of a robbery. Once at the scene, police learned that a victim was sitting inside his car, when three people opened the car doors, struck the suspect, and stole his wallet and credit cards.

The victim got out of his car during the robbery, and the three suspects tried to steal the car. Police said the car had become immobilized, preventing the suspects from taking it. The suspects then fled the scene on foot. The robbery victim declined medical attention, police said.
A few minutes later, Arlington County Police received a report of a car that was stolen near North Vermont Street and North Tazewell Street, across Wilson Boulevard from the robbery. At that scene, officers learned that two victims were sitting inside their car, when three suspects approached and demanded they exit the car. The suspects then took the car and fled the scene.
At about 4 a.m. Sunday, Virginia State Police notified the Arlington County Police Department that they were chasing a car on I-395 in Fairfax County. Arlington County officers joined the chase but were unable to stop the car before it crossed the bridge into the District of Columbia, according to reports.
In scanner audio, one officer described the stolen white car reaching speeds of around 130 mph before it drove into D.C., WUSA9 reported.
D.C. and Prince George's County, Maryland, police chased the stolen car through D.C. and Maryland until the car crashed later Sunday in D.C.
Two carjackings were reported in Arlington last week. On Wednesday morning, a man was the victim of a carjacking in an area south of the Ballston neighborhood. In that carjacking, the suspects were described as three Black men between the ages of 20 and 30.
On Friday morning, a man had his car stolen by two suspects on Langston Boulevard in Arlington after he got out of his car to see if they needed help with their vehicle, according to the Arlington County Police Department.
The victim's vehicle is described as a 2010 Mazda 6, with a Virginia license plate XMW1811. The two suspects are described as Black males, wearing sweatshirts or jackets and wool hats, according to police.
