ARLINGTON, VA — Detectives from the Homicide/Robbery Unit of the Arlington County Police Department are investigating an armed robbery and attempted malicious wounding that took place Saturday night in the Fairlington area, according to a police release.

Officers were dispatched around 9:48 p.m., to the 2800 block of S. Buchanan St. for the report of an armed robbery. A preliminary investigation revealed the female victim was meeting two unknown men for the pre-arranged sale of narcotics. The first man engaged the woman in a conversation, while the second man approached and then knocked her to the ground. After brandishing a firearm, he demanded money before stealing her purse. The two men fled the scene on foot, firing a shot in the direction of the woman. She was not injured. The responding officers canvassed the area but failed to locate the two men.

Police described the first suspect as a Black man in his late teens. He was wearing all black and a blue face mask. The second suspect was described as a White/Hispanic man, wearing all black, a black beanie, and a dark blue face mask.
