Two Handed Prostitution Charges at Pentagon City Hotel

Two California women have been handed prostitution charges after police said they posted online solicitations and offered services to undercover officers in Arlington.

Maryrose Ioane, 22, of Antioch, Calif., and Erlynn Sanchez Edwards, 22, of North Highlands, Calif., were charged with "keeping a bawdy place," according to police. 

"These prostitutes don't frequently stay in one location," police spokesman Dustin Sternbeck told Patch. "They move around. It's typical that they'll be in a city or location for a week at a time, and then move."

Ioane and Edwards were arrested shortly before 1 a.m. Friday at the Sheraton Pentagon City, 900 S. Orme St., according to information police released this week.

State law defines a "bawdy place" as anywhere inside or outside a building that is used for "lewdness, assignation or prostitution."

The law makes it illegal to keep, reside in or visit such a place "for immoral purposes."

An archaic piece of state code allows a judge the discretion to confine to a farm anyone convicted of such a charge.
