VIRGINIA — The Virginia State Police tried hard to get featured in "America's Best Looking Trooper Cruisers 2024 Wall Calendar" after winning a spot in the inaugural calendar 10 years ago.

For the ninth straight year, though, the Virginia State Police came up a little short. Voting in the 2023 competition ended on Monday at noon.

When the results were announced Monday afternoon by the American Association of State Troopers, the Virginia State Police’s entry in the best-looking trooper cruiser competition had received 6,832 votes, putting it in 23rd place. The top 13 finishers will be featured in the 2024 wall calendar.

“The Virginia State Police won a coveted spot in the calendar the first year the contest was held,” the state police said. “Since then, VSP has worked hard to be featured again.”

The VSP’s photo submission for the 2024 calendar was taken outside Arlington National Cemetery on July 4, 2023, and features the Washington, D.C. skyline in the background.

“The contest began as a friendly competition between state agencies and has proven to be a fun and engaging way to allow our states' community members to support and interact with law enforcement in a positive manner,” the VSP said.

The state police or highway patrol agency to receive the most votes earns a "Best Looking Cruiser Award" and is featured on the calendar's cover. With 181,071 votes, Florida’s entry in the competition was the top vote-getter and will be the cover trooper cruiser. The Florida entry shows a police cruiser, with an alligator in the foreground.

Calendar sales benefit the AAST Foundation, which provides educational scholarships to dependents of state troopers nationwide.

From July 17 through July 30 the contest reached 2,927,500 people on Facebook, according to the AAST.

The top finishers in the competition after Florida were California in the 2nd spot, followed by Nevada, Indiana, Kentucky, Georgia, Missouri, Michigan, Nebraska, Iowa, Massachusetts, Tennessee and New Hampshire.

The AAST will be providing information on how to order "America's Best Looking Trooper Cruisers 2024 Wall Calendar" on its website later this year.
