Van Leeuwen Ice Cream National Landing Opening Delayed: Update

ARLINGTON, VA — Van Leeuwen Ice Cream, the NYC born creamery specializing in made-from-scratch dairy and vegan ice cream, has delayed the opening of its new shop in National Landing, a company spokeswoman said in an email to Patch on Friday. The company planned to begin to serve its first scoop in Arlington on Tuesday, but plans have changed.

"We're looking forward to getting to know the Arlington community and sharing good ice cream made with good ingredients," says Ben Van Leeuwen, co-founder and CEO of Van Leeuwen Ice Cream. "We've gotten such a welcome response in the area since expanding to DC a little over a year ago and we're excited to continue to grow here."

In 2023, Van Leeuwen Ice Cream opened three locations in Washington, Union Market, Georgetown, and Adams Morgan. The National Landing shop, located at 269 19th Court South, will be the company's first in Virginia

When Van Leeuwen Ice Cream does open its National Landing location, it will serve 30 signature flavors, including Vanilla Bean,Honeycomb, Pistachio, Marionberry Cheesecake, Praline Butter Cake and Earl Grey Tea. Customers will also be able to enjoy sundaes, house-made waffle cones, ice cream sandwiches, root beer floats, milkshakes and pints to-go.
