Vehicle Fire On I-66, Expect Storms In PM: DC, NoVA Morning Traffic

On the Road
A vehicle fire was reported on eastbound Interstate 66 at US-29/Gainesville. By 6:43 a.m., the fire had been extinguished. All lanes had reopened by 7:18 a.m.
At 7:28 a.m., a disabled vehicle was reported on the northbound side of I-95 at mile marker 164.9 in Fairfax County, 0.8mi north of VA-600 Exit 163 after Lorton. No lanes are closed.

A crash was reported on the eastbound side of I-66 at mile marker 51.8, 0.1mi west of US-29 Exit 52, in Fairfax County. No lanes closed as of 7:32 a.m.
Flashing traffic lights were reported Tuesday morning due to downed wires at Braddock Rd. and Port Royal Rd., just east of the Capital Beltway. Drivers should proceed with caution.
In D.C., a crash was reported on I-395/Southeast-Southwest Freeway eastbound near the 12th Street Expressway. As of 7:30 a.m., all lanes had reopened, but delays remain.
In Maryland, a crash involving an overturned vehicle was reported on MD-4 near Suitland Pkwy and Presidential Pkwy. All lanes are open, but delays remain as of 7:17 a.m.
On the Rails
On the Orange Line, the Minnesota Ave, Deanwood, Cheverly, Landover and New Carrollton remain closed through Labor Day due to a summer platform improvement project. Local and express shuttles are available at Stadium-Armory.
Weather
Skies are expected to be sunny for much of Tuesday, with clouds increasing by midafternoon. Temperatures are expected to reach the low to mid-90s. With humid conditions, heat indexes of 100 to 105 are possible, according to the National Weather Service. A cold front will trigger scattered thunderstorms, mainly this afternoon and evening, the NWS said. Damaging wind gusts are possible with some of the storms.
