ARLINGTON, VA — Arlington County police are investigating two separate armed robberies that occurred over the same night, one in Barcroft and the other in the Arna Valley area, authorities say.

In the first case, officers responded just after 8:30 p.m. to investigate the report of an armed robbery in the 4800 block of Columbia Pike.

"Upon arrival, it was determined the male victim was walking in the area when the three male suspects engaged him in conversation," according to the incident report. In the second case, officers were dispatched just before 3 a.m. on Friday, in response to the report of a burglary in the 2700 block of South Glebe Road.

Investigators determined that the victim was fixing a vehicle occupied by four people.

"Upon completing the service, the victim asked for payment when one male suspect in the passenger seat exited the vehicle, brandished what appeared to be a knife and made threatening statements," according to police. "The victim moved to safety and the suspect returned to the vehicle described as a red sedan and fled the scene with the other three occupants. No injuries were reported."
