The Washington-Lee Generals Varsity Field Hockey team (4-4) dominated the Thomas Jefferson Colonials (4-2) early in Monday's meeting, ultimately winning 2-0.
"I thought we played really well. We had really great connections of our passes and good communication on the field, and I saw a lot of good scoring and connection in the circle, which is what we really struggled with earlier this season," junior midfielder Kirby Clark said.
Clark scored the first goal for the Generals with 21 minutes remaining in the first half.

"I definitely thought that our team and myself felt really confident after I scored that first goal," Clark said. "We suffered two tough losses to T.J. last year so coming out really strong this year was important to us. Scoring so early in the first half definitely instilled confidence in me that we could win this game."
Roughly seven minutes after Clark's goal, junior midfielder Adrianna Gorsky scored again for the Generals.

"I think they were excited to be dominating so early in the game, everyone kind of expected that T.J. would be a tough team," assistant coach Blair Corcoran said.
Both teams had a lot of hustle and intensity on the field, with possession going back and forth quickly, but the Colonials were never able to overcome the Generals' defense.
"I think it was really a team effort, we put in a lot of people so I don't think anyone in particular really stood out tonight."
After earning a day off from practice today, W-L takes on Arlington Rival Wakefield at 7:30 Monday at home.
