Today's riddle: What do you call somebody who crosses the ocean twice and doesn't take a bath? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. Loudoun officials say Amazon needs county approval to build data centers at VSTC campus (gwhatchet.com) — Loudoun officials say Amazon cannot automatically build massive data centers on GW's Ashburn campus and must first secure Board of Supervisors approval, adding a major hurdle to the 800,000‑square‑foot proposal. The ruling hinges on older zoning rules and education‑use covenants, and comes as Ashburn‑area residents raise concerns about environmental impacts, neighborhood proximity, and already‑strained electrical infrastructure.
2. Hot Pot Legend apparently closes for good at One Loudoun (theburn.com) — Hot Pot Legend at One Loudoun in Ashburn appears to have closed for good, with the space now listed for lease and all online signs pointing to a permanent shutdown. The Asian-style hot pot spot had been a prominent corner restaurant since 2021, and its departure follows another recent closure at the center, raising questions about what businesses might move in next.
3. Loudoun County nursery donates 1,000 native plants to help communities flourish (wjla.com) — Volunteers have planted native elm trees on Ashburn Village homeowners association land as part of a countywide effort to use 1,000 donated native plants. The project, led by local nonprofits and a Purcellville nursery, aims to restore habitat, support birds and pollinators, and raise awareness about invasive species as new state warning rules take effect in January.
4. Police say man tied his wife's hands behind her back and shot her dead over their marriage ending, judge tells him to stop talking at first court appearance (meigsindypress.com) — Loudoun County investigators say a man accused of killing his wife in Aldie first stopped at an Ashburn storage facility for ammunition, then bought zip ties before the shooting. Authorities later arrested him in Pennsylvania and allege they found a journal listing his wife as a planned target, while prosecutors now signal they may pursue an upgraded first‑degree murder charge.
