The teens attempted to steal Robinson's wallet and his Dodge Charger Hellcat outside a business in the 1000 block of H Street NE in August. Investigators said Robinson tried to wrestle a gun away from the 17-year-old when the 15-year-old shot him in the knee and the hip.
"I was trying to rob a man for a Hellcat and it went wrong," the 15-year-old told authorities, according to the Washington Post report. "I wasn't thinking."
The 15-year-old is scheduled to be sentenced on March 8. A judge told reporters on Monday that he could have the teen remain in custody of the Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services until his 21st birthday.
