Junior Girl Scout Troop 70069 earns Bronze Award

Junior Girl Scout troop 70069 earned their Girl Scout Bronze Award by teaching dog owners about the dangers of dog waste to the environment and by providing free dog waste bags and information cards. Their goal was to help minimize the pollution in the community caused by dog waste that was not picked up by dog owners.

The Bronze Award is the highest award that a Junior level Girl Scout can earn. It is earned by completing at least 25 hours on a project of lasting impact.

The troop researched the hazards of dog waste on the environment, spoke with community members, made information cards and purchased 70 dog waste holders. The troop used the proceeds they earned from Girl Scout cookie sales to fund the project.

The dog waste holders and information cards were passed out to dog owners in the community. The girls also donated about 30 cards and holders to the Humane Society of Loudoun County, who is passing them out to people who adopt dogs and at their public events.
