Loudoun County Officials Won't Say Whether They'll Enforce New State Gun Laws: Report

ASHBURN, VA – Law enforcement officials in Loudoun County have not given a clear answer as to whether they’ll enforce Virginia’s new gun laws after they take effect in July, according to a new report.

Loudoun Now reports that conversations with spokesmen for the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, the Leesburg Police Department, the Purcellville Police Department and the Office of the Commonwealth's Attorney in the county have not explicitly said they will or will not enforce the state’s new laws. Instead, they referred to supporting “thoughtful legislation” or said they’d deal with questions about the new laws “on a case-by-case basis.”

An array of new laws will take effect on July 1, but garnering the most attention by far are new state prohibitions on guns without serial numbers and magazines that hold more than 15 rounds of ammunition, as well as bans on the sale of assault weapons or carrying assault weapons in public.
