Loudoun Police Investigating Apparent Murder-Suicide

The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an apparent domestic-related murder-suicide that occurred Monday night in Ashburn.

The victims were identified by the sheriff’s office Tuesday as Jerry D. Hite, 78, and Margaret A. Hite, 77, both of Ashburn.

Sheriff’s deputies set up a barricade at the scene on Monday night before entering their home. But the incident appears to have been isolated, and there was no threat to the community, the sheriff’s office said.

Shortly before 9 p.m. Monday, Loudoun sheriff’s deputies responded to a residence in the 43100 block of Rockfield Court after someone called to report a shooting and made suicidal statements before disconnecting, according to a police report. Deputies arrived at the home and were unable to make further contact with anyone inside.

As a precaution, the police told residents in the area of Rockfield Court to stay inside their homes until the situation was resolved. Deputies then entered the home and found the deceased, the sheriff’s office said.
