📰 News we're reading

• 10 counties where American household income runs highest (qz.com) — Ashburn's rapid shift from rural fields to data center hub and planned suburbs helps keep Loudoun County at the very top of U.S. household income rankings. The piece explains how federal contracting, tech jobs, and rising home prices shape daily life, schools, and housing competition for professional families across Loudoun and Northern Virginia.

• MCL sprain sidelines Mariota while Daniels preps to practice (espn.com) — In Ashburn, the Washington Commanders confirmed backup quarterback Marcus Mariota has a right MCL sprain, while starter Jayden Daniels is expected to fully practice and likely return against the Giants. The team also lost returner Jaylin Lane to a season-ending ankle injury, as several other starters, including Nick Cross and Sam Cosmi, aim to come back soon.

• McDonald's disputes reports that it uses AI to set prices (restaurantdive.com) — McDonald's says it is not using artificial intelligence to change menu prices in real time, despite recent media reports, and insists franchisees still set prices using traditional market factors. An Ashburn McDonald's is highlighted for its digital menu boards, which the company says are used to feature items and manage stock, not to power surge pricing.
