Police: Arrest in String of Ashburn Burglaries
Sterling man faces 9 felony charges in burglaries that began in May, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office has charged a Sterling man in a string of recent burglaries in Ashburn that began in May.
Jamil B. Alam, 23, is charged with four counts of burglary, four counts of grand larceny and one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Alam is currently being held in the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center on an unrelated burglary charge.
The four burglaries stretched over two months. In most of the cases the suspect accessed the homes during the overnight hours through an open exterior garage door and an unlocked interior garage door while the residents were asleep inside, according to investigators.

The four Ashburn burglaries included:
- May 25 in the 18600 block of Riverlook Court in Lansdowne,
- June 28 in the 42700 block of Red Shale Court,
- June 28 in the 21900 block of Auction Barn Drive, and
- July 24 burglary in the 43000 block of Unison Knoll Circle.
The suspect removed cash, credit cards and small electronics. A firearm was also taken from a home during the June 28 burglary on Auction Barn Drive. The firearm was later recovered during the investigation.

Alam was arrested in Fairfax County in 2012, accused in 20 garage burglaries.
Detectives with the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, the Fairfax County Police Department and other neighboring jurisdictions continue to investigate possible related burglaries in the region.
