Police: Juvenile Faces Charges in Car Chase

Driver pulled over after late-night run through South Riding, says Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

A juvenile driver led a Loudoun County sheriff’s deputy on a car chase late Tuesday night on the streets of South Riding.

The driver struck a signal pole and nearly hit another vehicle before coming to a stop, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office. Charges were pending Wednesday against the juvenile for felony eluding, felony hit and run, driving during curfew hours and driving without a licensed passenger.

The juvenile was turned over to the custody of a parent, the sheriff’s office said.

A deputy on patrol spotted the juvenile’s vehicle shortly after midnight Tuesday in the South Riding area, according to a police report. The vehicle’s headlights were turned off.

The deputy tried to pull over the juvenile’s vehicle, but it sped away. It lost control temporarily in the area of Nations Street and struck a pedestrian signal pole.

The juvenile continued and nearly struck a vehicle in the area of Monteith Terrace. The juvenile was apprehended after the vehicle was stopped in the area of Nations Street and the Loudoun County Parkway.
