Police: Two Detained After Attempting Suicide on Local Roads
Incidents occurred Thursday in Sterling, says Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

Loudoun County police served emergency custody orders Thursday on two men who tried to injure themselves in separate incidents in Sterling.
The first incident occurred at 6:52 p.m. on the Algonkian Parkway at Sutherlin Place. Deputies responded to the area for a report of a man attempting to run into traffic, according to a police report.

Several passersby intervened to keep the man subdued, police said. The man was held on an emergency custody order at a local hospital.
In the second incident, deputies responded at 9:36 p.m. to the scene of a reported single-vehicle crash into a tree. The collision occurred at Potomac View Road and Route 7.

The driver appeared to have intentionally crashed his car to harm himself, police said. The man was held on a temporary detention order at a local hospital.
