Stone Bridge High School Rowing Team battles through the elements

Team perseveres through challenging weather to kick off the 2022 season at the March 26th Regional regatta

The Stone Bridge High School rowing team from Ashburn, Virginia endured temperatures in the 40s, rain, snow, intense winds, and white-cap waves at the Regional regatta at Sandy Run Regional Park on the Occoquan Reservoir in Fairfax Station, Virginia, on March 26, 2022. SB Rowing competed in 6 races against 179 other boats from a myriad of schools across the region.

The Women’s Varsity 4+ and first Men’s Varsity 4+ boats took 1st place in their classes, while the second Men's Varsity 4+ boat took 2nd place out of all competitors in its class. The Men's Double, Men's Junior Varsity 8, and Women’s Junior Varsity 8 boats either finished out of the top 3 due to some tough competition from the other schools or from Mother Nature herself. The team's Novice boats did not compete at this event.

The SB Rowing Team's next event is the Walter Mess regatta at Sandy Run Regional Park on April 2, 2022. More information about the team, details about upcoming regattas, and photos are available on the team’s website - https://sbrowing.org/.
