LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — The Loudoun County Health Department plans to reopen their vaccination clinic at Dulles Town Center, the county announced on Monday. The clinic will reopen by appointment only beginning on Friday, Sept. 17.

The Dulles Town Center clinic originally closed on Friday, Sept. 3. At that time, the health department shifted operations to a smaller clinic at Sterling Elementary School.

At the time, the health department said they were consolidating their operations due to a decrease in demand. Now, less than a month after shutting down the Dulles Town Center clinic, officials are preparing for another surge in vaccinations.

"In preparation for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Virginia Department of Health (VDH) recommendations for COVID-19 vaccine booster doses and for vaccinating children ages 5-12, Loudoun County will resume vaccination operations by appointment only at its Dulles Town Center site, located at 21090 Dulles Town Circle in Sterling," county officials wrote in a news release.

The Loudoun County Health Department said they expect to receive guidance regarding booster shots of the COVID vaccines "within the next week." They also noted that recommendations for providing the COVID vaccine ages 5 to 12 are expected in the coming weeks as well. At this time, third doses of the COVID vaccines are only available for people who are immunocompromised.

The health department noted that vaccines are more readily available now than when they were first rolled out earlier this year. Vaccines are available for free at pharmacies like CVS, Walgreens, and Safeway.

"While Loudoun County provided more than 300,000 vaccinations this year, residents have many more options now,” Loudoun County Health Director Dr. David Goodfriend said. "You don’t have to come back to the Dulles Town Center to get your booster dose if there is a more convenient option for you."
