• Little mussels offer big flex for Chesapeake Bay watershed (courthousenews.com) — A mussel-planting project on the South Anna River near Ashland is helping restore water quality and wildlife after a long-standing dam was removed. Volunteers and state and federal biologists are reintroducing alewife floater mussels, which filter pollution and support fish, marking a major ecological win for this stretch of the Chesapeake Bay watershed.
