• ‘It has to stop': Family mourns 20-year-old killed near Ashland Walmart, pleads for change (nbc12.com) — A local family in Ashland is grieving 20-year-old James “Poodie” Smith, who was fatally shot last week in the Ashland Square Shopping Center near Walmart and Dollar Tree. As his brother faces murder charges, relatives are urging the community to curb gun violence, stay involved in young people’s lives, and are inviting neighbors to a May 6 cookout to celebrate James’s life.
