Remembering Nancy Stowell
Remembering Nancy Stowell, a CASA volunteer who worked tirelessly on behalf of her young charges.

It was with great sadness that the Fairfax CASA received the news of Nancy Stowell’s passing in September. Nancy served as a CASA volunteer from 2004 until 2010. A committed and caring volunteer, Nancy worked tirelessly to ensure that the children in her cases were placed in safe, permanent homes. When the children in two of her cases were placed outside of the area, Nancy was not deterred; she continued to visit them in Norfolk and in North Carolina until their adoptions were finalized. In 2007, Nancy was the recipient of a CASA award, which acknowledged her hard work and willingness to do whatever was necessary for the well-being of the children for whom she advocated.
Nancy was also an active supporter of Fairfax CASA; she represented CASA at events in the community and along with her husband, Aubrey, who became a CASA volunteer in 2007, spent many hours working behind the scenes on behalf of our organization.
We will miss her smile, her humor, and her warmth. Our heartfelt sympathy is with Nancy’s family.
