Greenspring's Jane Garrell Selected as 2014 Virginia March of Dimes Nurse of the Year Award Finalist

(Springfield, Va.) - Registered nurse, Jane Garrell, was selected as a finalist for this year’s Virginia March of Dimes Nurse of the Year Award. She began working at Greenspring retirement community in June of 2007, helping to initiate the first hospice program for Erickson Living, Greenspring’s management company. She is currently a hospice case manager at the community in Springfield.

“We submitted the nomination for Jane in recognition of the stellar care that she consistently provides to her residents, and also for her commitment to her team, leadership, nursing education, and the Greenspring community,” said Nancy Jay, health services administrator at Greenspring.

Garrell is one of 121 nurse finalists selected out of 325 nominations. The Virginia March of Dimes chapter will host an awards gala in Richmond honoring the finalists and recipients for this award on November 1.

According to their website, the March of Dimes has been working with nurses for more than 75 years. The “Nurse of the Year Awards program allows the Foundation to recognize those nurses who exemplify an extraordinary level of patient care, compassion and customer service. Whether serving as a health care provider, educator, researcher, chapter volunteer or an advisor, nurses play a critical role in advancing the mission of the March of Dimes.”
