New to the Neighborhood

Hey! Hi! How are you!? Welcome!

These are all things we hear and hope to hear when we've moved to a new location.

My husband and I bought a new town-home in Burke Centre last Fall and are still getting settled in and acclimated to the area. It has been slow going. People here are nice enough, but it seems that Northern Virginians tend to be so busy with their fast paced and somewhat hectic lives that they don't easily reach out to strangers and introduce themselves.

On top of that I started a new career here, with a new office, away from family, and friends.  So I am in the process of spending long hours training and learning and working at building all THOSE relationships as well.

And so the birth of this blog. I tend to be a service oriented person by nature. I want to help others, to connect to them on a real level. I thought this might be a good way for me to reach out to connect to more people in my neighborhood and at the same time share some of the amazing amounts of knowledge I am processing everyday about the real estate industry in general and about the Burke Conservancy in particular.

We have one of the most beautiful little patches of the state right here. We have a higher median price value for homes than most of the rest of the state of Virginia. And we have a higher resale value. With the largest employers of the area being the Federal Government, Higher education / Medical Research, and IT services,  we live in an are that is not as often severely struck by the ups and downs of the economy as other more volatile sections of the country.All fo that adds up to a great place to buy and invest in Real Estate. But you have to know WHAT you are doing. And WHEN to buy and when to HOLD. And When to SELL!

It will be my pleasure and my duty here to give you information as I get hold of it that affects the housing industry here in Burke Centre. I will do so as honestly as I can; with I hope, a touch of humor.
