New Year's Eve in the Burke Area

Plan out your New Year's Eve with this guide to events going on in the area in and around Burke.

Daytime Fun:

  • The Bull Run 5k benefitting the Adam P. Seymour Foundation takes place at Bull Run Regional Park in Centreville. The race begins at 3 p.m. Registration costs $27. 
  • The City of Fairfax is holding its annual Fairfax Four Miler benefiting the Fairfax Police Youth Club, sponsored by Pacers Running Store and Adidas. The race starts at 6:30 p.m. Registration is $40 on race day. A post-race party begins at 8 p.m.
  • The 2nd annual Frostival will take place at the Dulles Expo Center during the day from Dec. 30 through Jan. 2. Top children's performers from around the area will be on-hand. Ticket prices vary and can be purchased online. Tomorrow, you can watch our very own Braddock District Supervisor John Cook read a story at 12 p.m.

  • Kate's Irish Pub in Springfield features (locally based) performing popular music from seven decades and Celtic tunes. No cover charge. 
  • Jaxx Night Club in Springfield features "Outerloop presents: Night of New Year's Metal," with bands Descent to Daylight, Hydra Kill, Slash Wednesday, Southlawn and Omit the Alibi. The show is all ages - $10 in advance, $12 at the door. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 6:15 p.m.
  • AMF Annandale Lanes features All Night Bowling with a special allowing you to play an unlimiated amount of games between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. for $35.
  • The SPACE in downtown Fairfax hosts a free party with bands, drinks, food, games and other family-friendly fun starting at 8:30 p.m. Go to http://www.jccag.org for more info.
  • Watch Night Falls Church will also provide alcohol-free child-friendly fun.  The event is absolutely free and will feature music, dancing, karaoke, an obstacle course, magic shows and much more. The fun starts at 7 p.m. at the intersection of Broad St. and Washington St.
  • Brion's Grille in University Mall features a $75 dinner special for couples in a private dining room, with filet mignon, lobster and champagne- you can see if there are any reservations left by calling 703-352-7272. If that's too pricey for you though, don't worry, the rest of the restaurant is open for dinner. The Cliff Simmons Band starts at 9:30 p.m.
  • Hyatt Fair Lakes will host a New Year's Eve bash featuring numerous live performers and special overnight packages. See their website for details.
  • Drop by ICONS in downtown Fairfax to watch the ball drop on three jumbo screens and over 40 other TVs. Doors open at 7 p.m.
  • Fat Tuesdays in University Mall is hosting rock act Rogue Mind. There is a $5 cover and the champagne will flow.

  • Clifton's Main Street Pub is offering a four-course dinner for $50, with music and dancing subsequently. Reservations are required — only a few openings remain at this point.
