Local residents perused local items Saturday on the first day of the Smart Markets Springfield Farmers Market.
An array of produce and homemade items were for sale, including strawberries, popsicles, empanadas/meat pies, breads, meats, flowers, snacks, cakes, vegetables and herbs.
Smart Markets Springfield will operate Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at American Legion Post 176 at 6520 Amherst Ave. in Springfield. The market will be open weekly through the end of October. Check out the Smart Markets website for the full list of vendors.
