Scholastic News Kids Press Corp Taps Robinson 7th grader

Lillian Martosko was one of 24 budding journalists from across the nation among more than 300 applicants.

BURKE, VA — A Robinson Secondary School 7th grader is about to get a genuine feel for the ups and downs of being a reporter.

Lillian Martosko one of 24 young journalists ages 10-14 from across the nation to have been named to the Scholastic News Kids Press Corps.

She was selected from more than 300 applicants for the honor, and will report "news for kids, by kids," for various Scholastic News Kids outlets, including Scholastic Classroom Magazine.

"I want to make a difference by reporting about events that other people are not able to witness," Martosko told the organization, which provided her bio:

  • Lillian’s favorite book is Land of Stories by Chris Colfer, and her favorite music is the Hamiltonsoundtrack.
  • She has participated in Odyssey of the Mind for six years and has been a member of the Girl Scouts for three years.
  • Lillian hopes to become either a journalist or an author.
