Thieves Target Cars In Springfield: Police

Within one morning, the suspect smashed car windows and stole valuable items from cars.

SPRINGFIELD, VA—Police are investigating a string of car vandalisms within the morning of Friday, July 27 in Springfield.

The thieves struck in the early morning hours in the neighborhood along Hooes Road near Hooes Road Park. Police say they entered numerous unlocked cars and stole items such as cash, sunglasses and a wallet with credit card. Police found property stolen from vehicles in Alexandria in the area as well.

In another case, a garage door opener was found in a vehicle and used to open a home's garage and steal a motorcycle inside. Two additional vehicles had their windows smashed.

Police remind residents to keep cars secured and remove valuables. Call Fairfax County Police at 703-691-2131 to report these types of crimes and 911 for those in progress.
