Assistance League Resumes Weekend Food For Kids Packing

Nonprofit Partners With Dominion Energy To Help Meet Local Food Needs

Assistance League of Northern Virginia members were elated to be able to hold a Weekend Food for Kids food-packing event in February after a long hiatus due to Covid. The members were joined by employees of the nonprofit’s long-time partner for this program, Dominion Energy Virginia. Experienced food-packers were joined by new volunteers and in a little more than an hour, the 80 attendees packed 1660 bags of food that were packaged for delivery the same day to six elementary schools in Northern Virginia.

Unfortunately, because of the uncertainties posed by the Corona virus, Assistance League does not expect that its food packings for the remainder of the school year will be open to the public. However, the organization is delighted to be able to assist its partner schools in addressing the needs of those who are food insecure.
