Adoptable Pet of the Week - Meet Ernie

Allow me to introduce Ernie, a handsome one year old tri-colored Beagle/Basset Hound mix. He weighs about 40 pounds and is up to date on his shots. Ernie is in good health and has already been neutered.

Ernie was picked up as a stray and brought into a shelter, which is really no place for a young handsome guy like Ernie. I guess no one realized that he is a special breed of dog that is in high demand. He is a fancy crossbreed known as a Bagle Hound. When you cross a Beagle with a Basset Hound, what you get is a happy go lucky dog with some playful moments. Like all hounds, Ernie enjoys following a good scent and this boy would really benefit from a fenced in yard where he could have a little off-leash fun.

Ernie has a very laid back personality and gets along well with people and other dogs. He has a moderate energy level and is pretty good on a leash. True to his breed, he has been known to possess the trademark hound bark (aaahroo!) every once in a while. Well, okay—maybe a little more than that.

The only thing Ernie brings from his past is an ear tattoo (8 12 10) and a good attitude. He's leaving the past behind and looking ahead to a bright and happy future. For now, he's hanging out at the rescue meeting new friends and enjoying the sights and sounds (and smells), but what he really wants and deserves is a home to call his own.

Ernie is a very sweet and loving young boy who has many years ahead of him. He just needs someone to share them with. Thanks to the rescue, he has already been given a second chance at life, but what he needs now is to be part of a family. Ernie's story needs a happy ending.
