CYA Track is Fun Fitness for the Family

Registration for CYA track season is now open.

With the weather outside, you are probably not thinking about the spring, but the CYA Track season is coming up in March. It is not too early to sign up. Registration is now open.

CYA Track Director Ed Lull heads up the program. He has a lot of experience that he shares with the kids.

Director Lull said, "I want kids to love this sport. We teach all of the track events, and we focus on agility and lifetime fitness, AND FUN!”

During CYA Track, you get to run the mile and receive a trophy. You may not think you can run a mile, but you will be surprised that everyone does.

There are a couple of track meets with other track groups.

Coach Richard Lewis, who has coached Olympic track stars, said "My objective is that the children who participate in CYA Track will learn to control their bodies. It seems basic, but this will help them in track - and every other sport they ever choose to do in the future."

All of the CYA Track Directors are really dedicated to the program and they all started in track as kids. Many of them have kids in the program.

There are also Track participants who help coach. One of the coaches is  who is in 11th grade and you may have heard about. This year, "he placed 10th in the National Championship earning his own All-American title."

Many of the coaches are also parent volunteers. This is a great program for you to do with your family on Sunday nights in the spring.

The first practice is March 11, which is not too far away. This is fun and will help you improve your running.

They have a really great end of season party that everyone looks forward to. In the past, it had things like tug-a-war, hula hoop contests and water noodle batons.

Everyone feels like a winner and everyone has a fun time.
