I'm new to blogging on the Patch, but posting Chickens as a profile photo begs an inquiry, I’m sure.
I’m not particularly fond of chickens, although hens are admirable if you stop to consider their productive and busy activities—what with all the daily egg laying and dirt scratching that goes on. They're often written about; for instance, there is the story of the Little Red Hen—that Icon of Industriousness—that planted wheat seeds she’d found, tended and cultivated the crop, baking bread with the results of her efforts. Celebrity Chicken, Foghorn Leghorn, lend some star power to the species……and there is one very happy Kentucky Colonel that has made a fortune from frying up this versatile fowl.
Posting the chicken picture is in honor of my neighbors—the Hen Nation, as I refer to them. The Hen Nation is made up of nearly 800 people on an e-mail distribution list that tolerates almost daily missives from me as part of the Homeowner Effective Network System—H.E.N.S. There are a few
Roosters on the Hen’s List and some Hens that reside in England, Italy and
another foreign place—New Jersey. Many have encouraged the sharing of stories that I hope you will find as entertaining as they do.

So, in honor of the Hen Nation and until I find a decent representative photo of myself, the two Phyllis Diller Frizzles depicted serve a suitable introductory purpose.
I look forward to you joining me in "an escape from the Ordinary, by way of the Ordinary."
