Valentine's Day Challenge for Foster Care to Success

The annual Volunteer Fairfax card event was lots of fun.

On Saturday, January 14, 2012, just one month before Valentine's Day, there was a Volunteer Fairfax Volunteers for Change Valentine's Day Challenge with Foster Care to Success

At the event, you got to make Valentine's Day cards and they go to college students. Every year there is a goal, this year the goal was 2,500 cards.

Many families attend this event every year.  Olivia, age 10, from Vienna said, "My favorite part is seeing all the stickers. This is my third year." Her brother Jacob, age 8, said, "My favorite part is putting on the stickers." This is his second year attending the event.

The event this year was held at George Mason University.  Heather Hare, Associate Director with the Center for Service & Leadership at George Mason University sat at our table and made cards with us.  She is on the Board of Directors of Volunteer Fairfax. She said, "You don't have to be a grown up to make a difference. It is just your creativity to make a difference, no matter what age you are."

These cards are going to be included in Valentine's Day Care Packages, going to college kids who were once in foster care.

This is the event where I first started making cards. After the great time I had with my family, a few years ago, my brother and I started Caring Kids Cards. We have a great time every year!
