UPDATE: Police ID Pedestrian Killed in Hit and Run in Centreville

Deadly hit and run took place Thursday night on Stone Road. Police are hoping someone saw the car that hit the elderly woman.

UPDATE: Fairfax County Police released updated information Friday on Thursday night’s fatal hit and run. The following is a news release issued by police:

“An 85-year-old woman was struck and killed as she crossed Stone Road in the Centreville area on Thursday, February 19.

The striking vehicle did not stop.

Crash Reconstruction Unit detectives are investigating and ask that anyone who may have seen the incident to contact them.

Police responded to a report of an unconscious woman lying in the roadway at around 6:45 p.m. The patient died en route to the hospital. Police identified the victim as Adela Antayhua. She lived on Stone Crossing Court and was crossing Stone Road in the intersection of Stone Crossing Court when she apparently fell and was struck. She commonly walked in the area, in all types of weather. Detectives feel possibly that snow along the shoulder of the roadway may have made it difficult to exit the roadway.

A woman was hit Thursday night crossing the street near Village Center near Braddock and Stone roads in Centreville, according to NBC-4.

The driver who hit the woman did not stop, according to police.

WUSA-9 reports that the elderly woman died on the way to the hospital.

The collision took place at about 6:45 p.m. on Stone Road and the woman was found in the middle of the road, according to Fairfax County Police.

“We’re hopeful someone saw something,” an officer told NBC-4.
