VIDEO: Officer Struck By Speeding Car During Traffic Stop

Fairfax County Police are looking for the driver of a vehicle that struck a police officer as he was making a traffic stop in Centreville.

The car, which police described as a black, four-door sedan, may have been a Honda. It was last seen heading south on Centreville Road and crossing into Prince William County.

CENTREVILLE, VA — Fairfax County Police released body cam video showing an officer being hit by a car during a traffic stop early Saturday morning at Centreville and Compton roads in Centreville, according to a post on FCPD's official Twitter account.

As the officer approached the vehicle that had pulled over for the traffic stop, a black, four-dour sedan, believed to be a Honda, sped by without slowing down and struck him in the lower body. The officer was taken to a nearby hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

The car, which may have received damage to the passenger side mirror or bumper, was last seen heading south on Centreville Road and crossing into Prince William County.

Police are seeking the public's help in identifying and locating the vehicle and driver who struck the officer. Anyone with information should call the Sully District Station at 703-814-7000.
