Fall really is the perfect time to get your fire pit installed; you can enjoy it all fall, and even well into the winter and next spring and summer. 1. Full Circle
You see a lot of circle-shaped fire pits, usually with a raised, stone encased central fire pit and either embedded or movable furniture pieces to surround it. This is a perennial favorite because the circle shape is so pleasing to the mind and allows many people to sit around and talk, roast marshmallows, etc. There are also hundreds of different variations on materials that can spruce up the classic circle with different types of stone, brick and fire glass.
2. Half Circle
If you’ve got a lovely view that you want everyone to enjoy while also enjoying the fire pit, consider having a half-circle fire pit installed at the top of your retaining wall, where you look out over the view. This is becoming a more popular design and, again, lends it self to many different design variations when it comes to brick, stone, metal, etc.

3. Fire Tables
If you’re moving away from rustic and towards the sleek, clean and modern, a “fire table” fire pit might be just your thing. They can be oval, circular, square or rectangle shaped. These are often constructed with smooth, natural stone tabletops surrounding the fire, which often comes out of a fire glass or stone base and is powered with gas instead of firewood.
4. Outdoor Fireplace
We’re also seeing a lot of new outdoor, free-standing fireplace ideas this fall. One is a variation on the fire table where the gas fire is surrounded by thick glass going up on each side. This is a bit safer for the kids, but remember, the glass can still get quite hot. It’s a nice variation that allows guests to set their plates down on the table as well.
