SYA Softball Wins 18U Inter-League Title

The SYA Shock Wave girls softball team defeated the CYA Royals to capture the Western Fairfax County 18U Softball League championship on June 11, 2011. The Shock Wave, coached by Doug Silver, went undefeated 15-0 in regular and post-season play.

The championship tournament was hosted by SYA at Colin Powell Elementary School. The two lit diamonds saw tournament action over the course of four days. The final day was a near triple header marathon for the Shock Wave, who resumed a game at 9:00 am that was interrupted by lightning two days earlier, advanced to the semi-finals at 11:00 am, and entered the championship game at 2:00 pm vs. the CYA Royals.
