Arrest Made in Chantilly Walmart Fire

Fairfax County officials say that the Walmart, located at Chantilly Shopping Center, received approximately $1,000 in property damage.

Fairfax County fire investigators say they have a suspect in the Chantilly Walmart fire.

They have charged Brenton Carter, 22, of no fixed address, with multiple charges in connection with what is being called by fire officials as an “intentionally set fire” at Walmart on Feb. 4 in Chantilly.

  • burning an occupied building, Virginia Code 18.2-79
  • burning property of value greater than $200, Virginia Code 18.2-81
  • disorderly conduct, and possession of illegal fireworks

Fairfax County officials say that the Walmart, located at Chantilly Shopping Center, received approximately $1,000 in property damage. There were no injuries.

Carter is being held at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.
